Just thinking about the great fight last night between Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy and Rubin "Mr. Hollywood" Williams. A great battle between two good, young super-middleweights. Lacy looks like a young Mike Tyson in power and style while Williams seemed to be the counter-punching wiz ala a young Riddick Bowe. It was a solid matchup and both men now take a step forward. How many times can that be said about a winner and a loser in a fight? Williams will move closer to the top ten now and Lacy just might get that fight with Britain's Joe Calzaghe. Hats off to both men for giving me a very enjoyable night after a hard day of work at the second job.

FEB. 6, 2005

Returning here to my boxing blog The Jab. I still am writing the monthly newsletter. Boxing is just in my blood. Watched the Zab Judah-Cory Spinks fight last night on Showtime. Two good, slick southpaws with barely a punch landing between them. Until later in the fight and Zab Judah hurt Spinks and the fight was quickly stopped to set up a third bout. Such is the sport. But the heavyweight brawl between Monte Barrett and Owen Beck was worth the price of admission. We need more fights like this especially in the heavyweight class where one punch is usually all that it takes. These two guys gave it their all and both showed some stones and great heart. More fights like this please! Will write again soon. I promise.
